A famous Sumatran singer once told me “love your lake” as he grew up on lake Toba and loved nothing more. As I never lived next to a lake, I could not really understand, but I always lived next to a river, actually next to THE river, the one and only, not really “blau” anymore, but definitely schön, and could understand a phrase “love your river”! During last few years, other rivers have crossed my path, not just any rivers, big, great, peaceful and bloody, calm and roaring, rivers that have seen a lot of love and a lot of pain, a lot of births and even more deaths. Danube,Wisła, Sava, Drina always stir emotions and being next to them, I feel respect.
